NOT ONLY CLUBBING | BUNGALOW | HONG KONG

If mentioning Bungalow, you probably won't link it with something about dining but just clubbing. Well, I was the same before I went there for a private dinner recently. Casual French and international menu and the brain behind is from the young Taiwanese Chef, who's creating and trying the modern dining concept.

Imagine the spacious dancing pool is empty and only several dining table around the corners are what the restaurant have at all! The paintings and classical lamps are not only the decoration, but also a door to fantastic atmosphere, just like the candles on the long dining table!

PERFECT CASUAL FRENCH LUNCH-SET IN SOHO | BOUCHON | HONG KONG

It is just a random pick at the beginning of this long Easter Holiday in Hong Kong. I was having brunch (only drink) with my girl friend in Soho, Central, where I was failed to find anything interesting on the menu of our first stop (but their mixed berry smoothy is super good!); we left but just kept walking up and narrowly passed by the main role of this blog post!!! Luckily the '$138 for 2-course / $158 for 3-course' hand-writing on the little blackboard stopped us and had us step in successfully :P

Otherwise, we would have lost this chance to discover the so-cheap but so-good place for (business) lunch in the heart of Central area.

BREAD N BUTTER CAFE | HONG KONG

It was the start of warm weekend in Hong Kong, where we found it super difficult to have a decent place to continue the girls talk with my fellow beauties in Central. Walking down from Sheung Wan, a spacious outdoor cafe discovery is totally in vain; so that we swift our attention to PMQ. Bread n Butter Cafe, with the showcase by bread n butter, another cross-boarder play in Hong Kong. Parisian style leads the whole cafe's design, even including the menu. It's featured by a collection of traditional French crepes but also some Asian twist like Crepe Hong Kong or Crepe Tokyo. As to the drink menu, it is more British to my opinion which offer a wide range of tea (served by T-brand tea bag) in some special flavor like ginger & lemon.

QUAYSIDE | HONG KONG

It is not easy to find such a spacious and outdoor place inside the downtown circle of Hong Kong city nowadays. Benefitted from the old maritime rest-house, the modern French restaurant, Quayside is offering a nice place for happy hour, for comfort dinner and for relax brunch with breeze. The little tropic design outdoor area is very beautiful even due to the harbour construction, the view is kind of blocked by the big machines nesting in the water. It is a typical harbour-side designed restaurant, a casual bar; romantic dining tables lighted by candles; a classically chic showcase space for wine collection and cigars; and a rectangular outdoor terrace with a thin boulevard aside the harbour. The servings are French causal, also due to the coming warm season, Chef. Andrew, specially designs the appetite-stimulated  spring menu with the combination of spices, herbs and sour & sweet dressing.

LA VACHE! | HONG KONG

It is not the first time I visit La Vache! Yes, I seldom visit the same restaurant in Hong Kong given such a big market and new openings in HK's dining world. Decent quality charged decently with a little special, is my basic rule to criteria a restaurant, and La Vache! wins.

Simple, is their winning point to me, just like ads commercial slogan 'Less is More', besides satisfying the basic human being's desire on feeding,  sometimes, to keep everything simple and even take away the choices from your clients, is the best way to satisfy them (especially to those complicated client who's always too struggling to a long list of dishes and drinks, like me :D).

LES SAVEURS PRIVATE KITCHEN | HONG KONG

I would like to call Private Kitchen as Below-the-Line restaurants, because most of them are running well based on the clients' recommendation in their own networks. Normally those restaurants have very limited seats; they don't expect a crowd and they do reservation only. It might be the bad news to the eaters who are always craving good dining concepts.

Want to try private kitchen?

Here you go, one of 'below-the-line' restaurants in Causeway.

GOODBYE SET LUNCH | THE PRESS ROOM | HONG KONG

You have no idea how busy this week I am and it's not because of blogger event, but my personal schedule for those closing restaurant. And on the closing in this week list, there are two from the same dining group, The Press Room and The Pawn (actually, it is just closed temporarily for renovation). The Press Room, the casual French-European restaurant on Hollywood Road, will run till this Friday, thus I have already no chance for their weekend brunch menu, while I still have time for set lunch, which is what I'm going to say something now and here.

STAY TILL THE END | FRENCH WINDOW | HONG KONG

That night is in a French way from head to tail. All of us are drink-able and talk-able, and we have a quite smart fine dining selection of French Window. We are not the first table that night, while we are absolutely the last one even one hour later than the normal closing time. French Window belongs to Mira Dining Group in Hong Kong, located in IFC Mall, it is a slightly casual French restaurant or say, bistro. Seafood and a line of popular French dishes are available there, also with a name list of familiar desserts. All you can have there, is following the traditional and familiar French cuisine.

3-COURSE DINNER | LA MARMITE | HONG KONG

La Marmite

46 Stauton Street, Soho, Central, Hong Kong

LA MARMITE. Facebook

Having a casual walk in Soho area, there is always a line of pink green sharpening my eyes when they are used to the slightly dark color tone of Soho's restaurants. La Marmite, is a casual and light French (Paris) style bistro with a selection of French dishes and a blackboard of dining wines. The recently-promoted 3-course dinner, refreshes the 'expensive' definition of French dining in my mind. It is where you can have a relax French dinner with a middle-level price, while still you can stay and enjoy your dinner as long as 3 (even 4) hours.

Informal Media Gathering at La Cantoche

Didn't expect could visit La Cantoche, this nice and chic French restaurant again so soon. Second time to come, I become more familiar to go straight into the little dark lane; cute server & bartender still welcome everyone by his warm smile. This time, we gonna spent our relax night time with rose and red/white wine with new friends and PR friends at this informal media gathering.

La Cantoche

HOME FEEL & MUM'S COOK

Le French May is a kind of the hot topic in Hong Kong with French gourmets, wines, arts… In the middle May, being invited by one of my friend who has booked a dinner in one little French bistro nested in Central, hidden in the narrow lane.

Croissant Day【Le Salon Restaurant et Croissanterie】

Agnes b. le pain grille

Paul Lafayet
