LOVELY SPANISH | QUEMO | HONG KONG

We always get great surprise when we are not expecting in advance. It was a random weekday night, we had a casual dinner to wash off the whole day tense after the office. A garden-like and countryside decoration made our dinner place quite different and refreshing, even giving an illusion of the daytime is extending.

JAR | HONG KONG

JAR, just-a-restaurant, another renovated restaurant in Central. It was middle-end designed Spanish restaurant, with a common collection of Spanish dishes, which are familiar by Hongkong eaters in terms of tapas, seafood, paella, suckling pig and sangria.

FOFO BY EL WILLY | HONG KONG

The first time I heart about the name, el Willy, was during my last Shanghai trip. His fame is out in Shanghai largely by his Spanish cuisine in the Bond area. It's a shame that I don't have chance to try it there, while it is such a surprise that I could do it here in Hong Kong. FoFo by el Willy, actually, has run in Hong Kong for 4 years already while it recently renovates a lot with a fresh while playful menu and the new appearance of the two-floor dining and lounge. FoFo's location is kind of tricky, it is said to be in Central, even in LKF (Lan Kwai Fong) but it is on the rooftop (20/F) of the LKF building, which just offers a hidden corridor to the lift and has a small badge of FoFo's name downstairs.

Guess that's why I must blog this Spanish restaurant now :P

SPANISH SMALL BITES | ESPUMA | HONG KONG

Spanish cuisine is no longer special in Hong Kong, following the mass Spanish culinary restaurants popping up; but Spanish-theme cafe seems a new word. Espuma, a young Spanish cuisine line, is quietly exploring Hong Kong, from their first cafe in Tsim Sha Tsui.

Cafe is the basic definition of Espuma, exactly the same as this Spanish word, making some fresh & new foam to eaters in Hong Kong. Novell, the mature Spanish brand, is bring Espuma coffee beans from Barcelona and a line of Spanish dishes and tapas in lighter version to form up the Premium European-style cafe, meanwhile, they are localized by inputing Japanese-Taiwan desserts and drinks to cater younger eaters.

SOLERA SPANISH CUISINE CONCEPTS | HONG KONG

In Hong Kong, we don't need to travel too much for a weekend holiday, to the beach, to the mountain, to the seaside resort, are always in about one hour. This time, I went to Discovery Bay, which is featured in a Western style by the looking of buildings and main street. Comparing to Ma Wan where I went a couple weeks before, Discovery Bay offers better quality and richer culinary.

I arrived with my friends around 7pm that night, when the beautiful sunset was taking place. To enjoy a good city weekend, sight-seeing is not enough, it must be with some yummy-candy. Solera, just facing to the ferry pier, was where our stomach and mind would be feed.

THEATRE OF TAPAS | ZAFRAN | HONG KONG

Zafran, Spanish restaurant & bar under Aqua Amani Group, is located in the basement of LKF (Lan Kwai Fong) with a chic black image with golden shades. Chef. Pedro Samper, brings a unique Spanish tapas journey this season, combing the charming art of open kitchen. "Theatre of Tapas", such a decent name, combines the artistic Tapas, the art of communication among the eaters, the Chef and the restaurant, and theatre-luxury dining space.

To quote the Chef's saying about this tasting menu, "Theatre of Tapas",

"An experience around Spanish flavors, Spanish ingredients, and my life experiences".

THE COMMUNE SOCIAL. Facebook | Weibo | Instagram

Mentioned the name, Jason Atherton, Hongkong Easters should have a basket of comments, simply for the well-known restaurant in Wanchai neighbor - 22 SHIPS. The Commune Social is another successful creation of modern tapas bar & restaurant in Shanghai. You can have a twisted fine dining experience there with creative tapas, desserts and Spanish-inspired cocktails from the menu and the little black boards. Plus, my eyes and cameras are well feed by 'lab-designed' dining space and the wonderful view of open kitchen.

SAL CURIOSO

4-tapas including dessert (without drink)

Paella

Kennedy Town
