LAI BUN FU | HONG KONG

The hidden 'kitchen' in the 18 On Lan Street, is quite a quiet space for the expats and business people around Central. A decent fine dining environment perfectly merged into the old-fashion of westernised Asian city. The dishes are dedicated by the mixed food materials from different places with a luxury background.

Master Chef is a local-local, but with an experienced chef background worldwide; while I found the familiar cuisine style there as I was in Shanghai - a typical colony city style, like a hot pot, you can put everything inside and as time going, the taste comes out perfectly matched; and finally it grows to its own.

LOONG YUEN | HONG KONG

I haven't tried a lot of Chinese/Cantonese restaurants since I came to Hong Kong, while in the limited ticked list, Loong Yuen, is one of the recommended list. The impression of this restaurant to me, is everything about quality and humble. The restaurant is located in the basement floor of Holiday Inn in Tsim Sha Tsui, which is a hot spot but not adding too much benefits to the restaurant for its hidden location. The visitors there are half tourists half locals, who are mostly re-visitors for its stable quality. The Chinese dishes served there were in a reasonable price range, and the design of the dishes were in generally, traditional, but sometimes they are twisted with a little new concept by adopting the western cooking concept.

EAT IN HK | HONG KONG

Before I continue my normal restaurant review, I want to write some simple words about my real food journey in my every day-time. Not sure I am lucky or not to have my new office location at one of the most local district of Hong Kong, where when you have a random walk there, you are every-second rounded by the very Hong Kong locals, with slippers and pajama (not much this extreme situation), VERY not patient and always loud. Wait!!! Looks quite negative description? half yes, half nope, actually it is Hong Kong, the real one, and I do appreciate those neighbors who are maybe not that rich or educated, but they are real persons, and they deliver good stuff by their heart!

That's why those areas, in general, have the highest density of good local restaurants.

EGG EGG TARTS TARTS | MACAU

Macau Macau!!! Tarts Tarts!!! Every time talking about Macau, I just cannot stop to miss those lovely palm-size tarts; freshly made, hot-hot, crispy-layered, sweet or savory, and fatty-fatty :D (Com-on, all delicious food in this world would not be a 'healthy & non-fat' item!!!)

I was so happy about my last weekend holiday in Macau, which at least freed me a full afternoon and night plus a short morning to explore the real local Macau foods! Can you imagine how pissed-off I feel that I have been to Macau 3 times but tried ONLY Margaret's Portuguese Tart!!! Finally I have my second exploration of egg tarts this time and gonna share with you as usual.

NAM LOONG CAFE | HONG KONG

Memory is one of the most precious asset for human beings. For Hongkongers who's used to a wide diversity of dining culture since early times, the Hong Kong Tea Restaurant, is undoubtedly on the memorable list. The green metal railings, the white ceramics, the efficient-working staffs... each part forms up the idea of 'Tea Restaurant' where is the dream-creator of most Hongkongers.

Years going, the old-style restaurant is fading away for many reasons, but luckily, fading-away memory creates more opportunities for those who care a lot and who can twist it with more value. Nam Loong, managed by Golden Stone Catering Group, is another story of modern-traditional Tea Restaurant.

Hing Kee Restaurant

Yummy Casserole (rice) is one of the signature food in Hong Kong, especially for winter season. Those raw rice just is getting well cooked by the heated casserole. The normal-looking cook stuff has a magical power to make those rice good-smelling and chewy, and I'm sure some of you just like me, prefer those bottom layer of rice stick on the casserole, a little over-cooked but extremely tasty even without any sauce.

Yau Ma Tei, the must-going place for travelers and also for locals in chili seasons. The Hong Kong style street foods and local restaurants there offers super cheap seafood, fried foods, casserole and Chinese desserts. Hing Kee, has quite huge business, almost cover the whole bottom area of the whole street. Eaters prefer sitting outdoor and enjoying really local foods and services. Everything is noisy and loud, typically street-style.

hongkong food, honghong restaurant, hongkong noodle, fried noodle, seafood

如此爆棚其實只爲了這一味“新鮮出爐”菠蘿油,金華馳名小食其實也不乏這一味,墨西哥包、雞批、酥皮蛋撻以及最近店家熱推的豬扒菠蘿包都算是“馳名”貨,可大家就是著了魔似的獨獨認准了簡單菠蘿包夾鮮牛油!著了魔的我也要算一份子,也確實著了這菠蘿油的魔好久好久,細細算來,第一次接觸也是自己尚讀緊大學之時,那是突然有了一個人來香港旅遊的念頭,二話不說上網上書店搵資料做筆記,捎上行李地圖和寫的密密麻麻的筆記本搭上最早一班飛機就過來了,爲了找這家“金華”可是從人來人往的旺角一路尋尋覓覓走到旺角東的弼街,那時人生地不熟的舉著地圖到處行,也是烈日當頭的天氣,實在是好不容易,坐定定點上一份菠蘿油外加一杯馳名熱奶茶,嘆著冷氣也嘆著美食,簡直是天上人間;
