Under summer heat, we always lose our appetite and energy;
well luckily I heart the new summer
dinner buffet menu from L’hotel
Island South. Since 1st July till the end of August, a brand new
dinner buffet with worldwide cold & hot dishes, desserts and special delivery
of Japanese sea urchin harvested in
a sustainable way, rich in the nutrient DHA. During the new buffet period,
every adult customer would enjoy one sea urchin dish selected from Sea Urchin Sashimi with Seaweed and Rice
Balls, Steamed Egg Custard with Sea Urchin, and Toast with Sea Urchin and Chicken
Ragout.
The restaurant is located in the basement of hotel
which is located in the South of HK Island, while you can take a 30-min shuttle
bus from IFC (Central); the service which facilitates my expectation of
convenience, comfort and good & spacious dining environment far away from
downtown-crowd.
LIS café, actually, is right faced to the lift, but
connected with a square-shape lounge at the outer space. On the left-hand side,
there’s the dessert bar with a large freezing counter keeping all cakes in a
decent temperature (5.8). Besides, the macaroon
ferris wheel is definitely a camera-killer.
Alaskan Queen Crab Legs, Iceland Prawns and Jade Whelk
Mussels with Spicy Tomato Salsa
Japanese Soba (Cold) Noodle
Japanese zucchini
Japanese Grilled Mackerel Fish
Japanese Sashimi
Buffet starts! To start from seafood, we have Alaskan Queen Crab Legs, Iceland Prawns and
Jade Whelk. The most impressive one must be the crab legs for its sharp
orange color, juicy and tender crab meat and sea salty plus sweet taste. Among
the cold dishes, Mussels with Spicy
Tomato Salsa, is also good for the decent flavoring and fresh alive texture.
Apart from the normal cold dishes such as salmon sashimi, salad bar, those prepared
salads are also attractive, such as Golden
Egg Salad with Tailor-made Thai Sauce, Organic Pumpkin with Edamame; Sweet
Papaya and Lychee Salad, is my favorite salad which enrich your chewing experience
a lot with the crispy and juicy salad slides. Besides, they have some special dishes
such as Japanese zucchini, Japanese
Grilled Mackerel Fish. Japanese Soba
(Cold) Noodle, featured in a DIY way by offering wrapped egg slices,
crabmeat slices, vegetables and Japanese Soba sauce and sesame sauce. Of
course, in a buffet restaurant, you won’t miss the Japanese sashimi & sushi
bar, but compared to it, I prefer the Korean spicy cake which is made after
your order.
Grilled Bar & BBQ Bar
Slow-cooked Lamb with Black Truffle Veloute Sauce
Come to the hot dishes, I was impressed a lot by
the fusion idea. I like Slow-cooked Lamb
with Black Truffle Veloute Sauce the most, even it is not good looking. The
lamb is super soft but not a mass, absorbing all the essential of black truffle
to have such a rich taste and you must admit the creamy soup with a ‘disgusting-looking’
tastes really nice in fact. For the traditional Chinese dishes, Sour and Sweet BBQ chops and Steamed Whole Sea Corvina with Scallion,
a perfect and professional flavor of Chinese-Cantonese cuisine with the quality
raw materials; I really enjoy the sweet-meat style and the perfect fish chin.
Popcorn, Egg Twist, Banana Bread Pudding
Finally we full our normal stomach and our sweet
stomach is ready. First, they have a small table of some traditional or even
classical Cantonese dessert, which featured by Egg Twist (蛋散).
It is lightly fried and dipped with some honey syrup; a fluffy soft taste with
rich egg aroma, plus I’m a syrup-lover. Besides we have Strawberry Paris Brest, Homemade Soufflé and Movenpick Ice-cream. Hokkaido
Milk Pudding is my favorite dessert that night, for its smooth and mild
pudding texture in a strong but not overwhelming milk flavor.
Dilmah Tea Bags
Cocktail & Mocktail
German Riesling
I'm happy that during the buffet, the basic tea/coffee and Dilmah tea bag is offered. Actually LIS cafe has a good selection of cocktail and mocktail fit to the summer season. The lovely milky strawberry cocktail or avocado-featured green mocktail are best choices for girls. To end up the perfect night, we have another bottle of German Riesling, which enjoys an outstanding aroma of fruitiness and sweetness.
