Looking for good quality Wagyu BBQ? A new opening Japanese restaurant in Causeway Bay would be another choice in your wishing list. Gyuuzen, located in 13/F of World Trade Centre, featured in Japanese BBQ, good quality Wagyu supply and regular Sashimi, which impressed me a lot that night, are their 7-item Sashimi Platter and a rich provision of Wagyu. Cozy and chic dining environment, which is very ideal for large group people. It enjoys all the new-opening advantages of clean, tiny, and superior services.
We are located in the large bench for 12 people with cozy sofa. To lighten our tongue, the delicate Japanese starter of sautee raw squid with cucumber slices, the garlic and baby bamboo root. Nice 'living' texture of squid and taste very fresh.
Sashimi Platter (7-item around $400)
Fresh Japanese Oyster
Sashimi and fresh Japanese Oyster, was definitely not the main roles that night, but everyone gave "WOW" when we saw the attractive dishes. Fresh sweet shrimp in a little sticky but still solid texture, really thick-cut fishes in a 'firm' way. The hand-size oyster just fell down into my throat with a strong taste of sea water; better to dip some lemon juice.
Japanese Wagyu Cheek $98
Japanese Wagyu Tongue $188
Japanese Wagyu Leg $168
All parts of Wagyu is offered, from face to tail. If you are really a beef dead-fans, you won't be disappointed for those different textures and different flavors. Normally, the more active body parts would have less fat, stronger flavor, but harder in texture. Others might have more fat while to be tender and even mouth-melted.
However, the best is tongue. The long-cube-shape tongue contains the slimmest slices of fat in a balanced placement in beef texture; it has a little pepper dressing and grilled to medium. It is fully covered of the oil coming out during 'firing' while you can taste the lightness and pureness of the oil. The heat makes the tongue almost 'explode' so that at your first bite, it gives back a juicy mouth after one-second crispy experience. Inside, there is the softest part which even doesn't taste like 'meat'.
* The selection of Wagyu part is not limited to what I have posted and introduced here. They offered even more shoulder, back, leg parts, etc (Obvious I'm confused for those too much items...)
Grilled Eel
Salty Grilled Shrimp
Just like the wowed Sashimi Platter, the raw (tiger) shrimp which is even longer than an Asian girls hand, and the white eel, wowed all of us again. We cannot wait the 'zzz' (grilled sound), and even the finished-presentation stimulated more drops from our mouth. What I tasted, is the most original sweet of those shrimp in a 'bouncing' texture; on the opposite, the eel shows the richest flavor of fish fat in a feminized way.
As a new-opening restaurant, I am really impressed by the high quality of restaurant's raw materials, service and dining environment. In an overall view, it offers an over-satisfaction to us, especial I heart from the manger about some lunch/dinner set.
