“Less
is More” – I find this sentence is quite widely applicable;
MOTORINO in Soho, Central, could be another interpretation.
‘Climbing’ on the mid-level in Central, the shop is hidden behind
the mid-level escalator. The new-open pizza house wins reputation and
crowds in a unbelievable speed as my memory and it quickly explores
the yummy pizza to Wanchai area after the big success in Central.
It’s a typical American street-casual, stylish and cool place,
serving simple pizza, little selection of appetizers & desserts,
and a rich collection of drinks. The restaurant is much smaller than
Wanchai one; it is decorated with classic black and white with
interesting artistic tricks placed or painted here and there. Large
glass windows/doors are used to amplify the spacial feeling, and I
would like to sit at the long bench table just beside the entrance,
facing to the crowded and noisy Soho and enjoy a simple yummy pizza,
never too ‘street’ :P
中環Soho區從來都不缺優質餐廳,各種飲食與美酒文化在那裡起步,去了一批又來了一批,想要在那裡分一杯羹絕非易事。MOTORINO
MEAT
BALL
Simple
appetizer - meat ball with potato & cheese sauce. I’m not keen
on Minchin dishes so cannot say a lot towards any kind of meat ball.
From my point of view, it’s a little loose in texture but with
yummy potato sauce, balance in sweet and sour and not too sticky.
MARGARITA PIZZA
Potato
sauce, cheese, basil leaves and pizza dough – that’s it! Simple
but yummy. In the middle, you got a super thin, moisture part rich in
salty potato sauce and melting cheese. The sauce gives a mashed and
heated fresh potato taste and the awesome cheese is sticky, elastic
so much, not too strong cheesy flavor which reserves the 1st
position to potato sauce. The best part (to me) is, slightly
over-baked pizza dough which has lovely dark brown dots. It’s
fluffy as Turkish bread but with a strong smoked/over-baked fragrance
coming out from the super thin and crispy surface layer, just like a
piece of biscuit.
If
I have chance, Wanchai shop would be my next stop for a second try,
and my suggestion is just to find a street-style seat and have a
simple piece of pizza with a big glass of iced soda drink while
staring at the street at early night, or order as take-away and enjoy
privately with your friends or family in front of TV with a large
bottle of iced coca :P
